United States Coast Guard Station

This is the USCG Station in Bucktown, on Lake Pontchartrain, from where Moira Halloran launches the rescue effort for survivors of the Bon Temps Roulez explosion.

Newly constructed before Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005, this USCG Station was one of the few buildings on the lake side of the levee in Bucktown to survive. The canal immediately behind it in this photo is the infamous 17th Street Canal. Along with others, it collapsed during the Hurricane, essentially flooding the City of New Orleans.
